I am loving this Sydney artist Yvette-Marie Tziallas who works under the label YMT designs. There is something so interesting and intriguing about her work. I love all the small details, her ideas, the feeling of mood and movement in her work.

Yesterday Danny, Jodie and Anthony the upholstery's (these guys rock and are such nice people plus SUPER talented at taking something a bit worse for wear and making something fabulous) whom we share our studio space with had a bit of a revamp. Looks amazing. I'll need to upload some photos tomorrow. They've made our side look a bit crummy so Pepa and I will need to do a bit of a revamp of our own later this week.

At the shibori studio we are hard at work dyeing millions upon million of pieces of leather, I am dreaming about leather dyeing in my sleep. We are also working on some different things and new ideas with the leather. It's just so versatile. I am really inspired at the moment, lots of creative energy, a lot of new ideas and plans for the future. Hooray for February.
Pepa and I have also been hitting Reverse Garbage like mad women (they know us by name).

I am in love, madly, madly in love with the work of Tara Badcock. A Tasmanian textile designer who does the most amazing and detailed work. Ah, how my textile loving heart sings.

On another note I am also madly in love with some new textile techniques I have been working with today. Plus we are looking at some amazing old school needle work of our own and how we can bring that into our own work, work that is quite different from things we normally do. I am super excited, today the shibori studio was buzzing with creative energy, hooray.

The Balloon Job

In December Pepa and I worked with Kelly Ross from www.thegentry.com.au, on a project called "80 days around the world". We helped create a dip dyed huge balloon however the rest of the event was amazing as well, it had a real train!!! Kelly is awesomely talented!

Here in the land of shibori we find ourselves surrounded by some of the most talented, wonderful and nicest people you'll ever meet. So I thought I'd give you a few blog posts on some of our favourite friends over the next few days.

The gorgeous Hattie Tang

Hattie Tang is one of those super annoying people who is beautiful, talented, smart as a whip and super nice. Hattie has had a diverse career turning her hand at everything from teaching at FBI fashion college, designing textiles for Ben Sherman and working as a fashion illustrator for many of Australia's best designers.

I'll let you in on a little secret... one of our new Dye da Vida colours is called "CaPeach". It's pink! A stunning, glorious colour, half way between hot pink and peach.

All I want for Christmas............

One of the best things (well not for my bank balance) about working in design, is you are constantly exposed to some of the fabulous work of others; so with that in mind - I have found my must have wish list for Christmas 2011.
Present 1. An art work by Miranda Skoczek.

Did you know her work is available via The Edwina Corlette Gallery (family and friends take note) and they now let you lay-by. How cool is that!

Present 2. Next on my wish list would be this little beauty.

She is cutely called Carrie and lives in the backyard of Stylist and Events Guru Jane Frosh. While I'm lingering around Jane's super stylist abode, I think I might just steal this baby and then we come to present 3.

Just the right amount of punk rock and bohemian glamour that I am currently trying to cultivate. This would sit perfectly in my dining room right above this.

Present 4. An art work by Lisa Madigan

I have been obsessed by the work of the Artist Lisa Madigan since I first laid eyes on it (ask anyone I know.) I love her work and could easy wallpaper every wall in my house with it.

For present five, I head back to the shibori stable and get my self this shibori lamp shade in Indigo. Mmmmmmm... Indigo I'll never get sick of you.

Now, my light situation is sorted and I'll move on to the kitchen for present 6.

This gorgeous photograph from Iain Dawson Gallery (photographer Leila Jefferys) to entertain me while I cook (will try to anyway.) This photograph is super cute and I read somewhere the other day that Jonathan Alder said "they were irresistible." Can't bet that for a wrap now can you!!!

Now, I've got something fabulous for every wall in my house and there's really no excuse for my person not to have some glamour's as well. I was lucky enough for my birthday a month a go to score a ring by Jewellery Designer Jessica Davison, but what the heck it's Christmas so I think I'll ask for this little beauty.

Well there you go, my long (and fabulous) Christmas wish list... Now I just need to find some people to buy them for me.

A Frankie shoot with Plain Jane styling, Nicole Don and Gracie Johns.

Today we shoot an advertising campaign for frankie magazine with Gracie Johns at the amazing blue mountains home of stylist and events extraordinaire Jane Frosh from "Plain jane styling"(http://plainjanestyling.blogspot.com/) and "Show Pony". Our advert which is a "how to dip dye tutorial" was styled by Jane and assisted by the lovely Nicole Don (and fellow up and coming shibori dyer ) from http://www.thetranscontinentalaffair.blogspot.com/. The shoot had everything, chickens, children and the cutest little caravan.

What a fun and fabulous day, we are so lucky to be surrounded by such talented people.
